Description
As they say, “your Kitchen is the hub of your home”, and that’s never been more true than with our deer little SKF. She may be small and have a clean minimal look at a glance but there’s a lot more going on under the skin (which you can choose by the way). If we take a look at the options beneath the surface we can easily see why the SKF really is the necessity of your #vanlife.
As it’s a kitchen, there’s a sink, pump, tap, fridge, fresh and grey water storage capacity to meet NZ self containment requirements for two people. There’s also plenty of extra storage to suit your extravagant, holiday diet food storage and cooking utensil requirements.
Like in all of our units there’s built in touch sensitive dimmable warm lighting in all the spots where you’d otherwise be blindly rummaging.
Secure, protected, well ventilated and easily accessed compartments for the leisure battery, fridge compressor unit and 12 volt switch board makes this unit an attractive all in one self containment unit for rental companies looking to keep the vital organs protected from the “influencer’s”.
This unit is intended for smaller vans but can be effortlessly scaled to a full height stand up kitchen to length and depth of your choice.

Things to consider when choosing your options and sizes
The SKF is absolutely packed with features for a unit this size, So if you’ve decided to assemble and install yourself a basic but solid knowledge of electrical and plumbing skills is a must have, we strongly encourage making sure you have some extra tools on hand and enough time to not be in a rush. Think carefully about each task before doing it and have fun!
- When choosing material for front’s you should ask what type of material would suit a person like you (or who ever maybe renting your van from you) the most. Something light and pretty or heavy and tough? A material thats pre finished that’s easy to clean, or a finish that’s easy to repair small damages that may occur over time? All materials have their pro’s and con’s and we are happy to chat about this with you and always keen to try new things, there’s so many out there!
- Think about access to the sliding door handle when specifying bench top height
- Depth of the unit can be made narrower than 600 but eliminates the possibility of the drawer fridge.
- If you go for all the high spec options then you will need a basic but solid understanding of 12 volt electrical systems. We will prepare the main switchboard at the factory for you and most parts will come pre wired. There will be a lot of connections to make though.
- Zone 2 does not warranty any electrical, plumbing or mechanical components that get damaged immediately or over time due to incorrect installation.
If you have the know how and are keen to do it yourself then our units are labeled and ready to go flat pack styles just for you! We encourage not rushing the job (we know you’ll be excited and itching to see it complete) It’s a fun weekend or two and there will be a point where some initiative must be taken for the final hook up for jobs like fitting the grey water breather you will likely need a few extra tools available to you at this point such as hole saws for a drill or a crimping tool for connecting you VSR to your van battery. We aim to make some tutorials over time specific to our products
